New Carlisle Indiana Newborn Photographer | What to Expect at Your Newborn Session

Thinking about booking a Newborn Session with Katie Mrozinski Photography? I’d love to tell you more about what to expect at your session!

First, it’s important to book your session in advance. A lot of planning and editing goes into each newborn session, so I only take a limited number of sessions each month. Once you have booked your session, I pencil your due date in on my calendar. Once your baby arrives, please contact me as soon as possible - within the first few days of birth is best - so we can finalize the date of your session. Newborn sessions typically take place within the first 5-14 days of birth, so I want to make sure to get you on my calendar in that time frame for the best results! These sessions take place at my studio in New Carlisle, Indiana, and start in the morning when babies are typically sleepier and less fussy. Expect to have your session on a weekday morning around 9:30 am Central time/10:30 am Eastern time.

After your date is finalized, I will send you a guide on tips to best prepare for your session. This gives you helpful tips to make sure that your baby is extra sleepy and content when you arrive to your session! It also includes tips on what to wear for yourself and your family if you are going to be including some family shots as well.

I always get asked if you need to bring anything to your newborn session, and the answer is no! I provide all the props, headbands, hats and bonnets, wraps, etc. that you will need for your newborn session. If there is a special item that you want to incorporate into your session, that is fine too! I do ask that you send me a picture of what you will be including ahead of time so I can make sure to be prepared with how to incorporate that item into your session. I will send you a little questionnaire before your session so I can get your preferences such as colors that you'd like to use at your session, who will be included, and any must have shots that you are looking for.

On the day of your session, I will have my studio temperature warmed up for baby, and set up and ready to go! I always have various setups ready so I can move as quickly as possible between shots. Occasionally I will ask for your assistance in spotting your baby during some of the shots, but for the most part you are able to sit back and relax! I will let you know when baby is getting hungry and we can take breaks for feeding, comforting, etc. I know this day can feel stressful to some, but I promise I will take good care of your baby and ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible!
